Homemade Hamburger's

Today I don't have a recipe or any fancy dish to share.  Today we have an All American Hamburger!  I absolutely LOVE hamburgers, but most times when I crave one I just run our and pick one up at one of the many restaurants that serves them.  Recently I got the bright idea to make them for dinner at home, boy was that one of my brighter idea's! It was simply delicious!

So here's a challenge for you, next time you get the urge to run out and pick up fast food, think about making it yourself instead.  The result may amaze you!

JDRF

Today I thought I'd share a recap of the JDRF walk with you all.  BIG Thanks to everyone who donated, I was able to surpass my personal goal!

The walk kicked off promptly at 9am even though it was raining.  My friends and I completed the course in about an hour along with other supporters.  It was a really fun time for a great cause for all involved!  Here are a few pictures from our morning!

JDRF

The Greensboro Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 5K Walk will be held on September 24th, and guess what?!?! I am participating!!!!  This is the first time I have ever participated in something like this and me and my friends are excited to help raise money for this cause.

Events such as these are very important in raising money to continue funding research.  Diabetes is a disease that affects people of all ages, races, shapes and sizes.  Finding ways to prevent, cure and better treat people with this disease is super important.

Visit my personal page to follow my progress, I can't wait to share my final results!

Back to School Bash

It's been a few weeks since the kids have gone back to school.  Before school started one of my close friends treated her daughter to her first sleepover in honor of back to school.  This sleepover was fun filled from the moment the kids hit the door!  We started the night off with with some outside time followed by a dinner of hamburgers & hot dogs straight off the grill and an assortment of chips.  Next we had tons of fun making rice krispie treats with a twist (they were oh so cute and I can't wait to share the recipe Thursday!) and topped off the evening with a nail salon/make up counter that lead to the finale dance recital full of color costumes!  Take a look at the fun!

Basil Corn Saute

Today we have a delicious corn side to compliment the meal introduced two weeks ago from Cosmo Magazine, thanks to Katie Lee!

breadplusbutter.blogspot.com

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 garlic clove, minced
6 ears corn, shucked and kernels cut from the cob (about 4 cups)
2 tablespoons fresh basil, very thinly sliced

In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté garlic for about 2 minutes.  Add corn, and season with salt and pepper.  Cook until the corn is just tender, about 8 minutes.  Remove from heat, and gently stir in basil.
